Vacation Hair Do's & Don'ts

The braids I have now have lasted three months. But not all of my hairstyles have. Here's a look at my last vacation two years ago and the many styles I had to have over that month.

Here's what I started with:
Some Cornrows in Hawaii. Well these didn't last with all the swimming I did on the beach. It wasn't all my hair either so when my hair started to come out of the braids my mom took them down after five days.

Here I am with my uncle Mike after my mom took the cornrows down.

Just a couple of days later and here we are at Disney and sporting a puff.

By the time we got to Universal Studios I looked a lot like Minnie.

Finally, I am on the last leg of our vacation in the airport. My mom decided to put twists in my hair to give us both a break.

So what did I learn from this:

Hair DO

Hair DON'T!!!!!!

My First Three Months

I got my braidlocks on Memorial Day weekend this year. It took my mom three LONG days to do it. I was so glad when she finished. I love my braids.

Here are a few more shots of my braids.

My braids came just in time because we were going on vacation this summer to visit our family and that meant my mom would not have to do my hair while we were gone. We usually go to Orlando when we go on vacation but this year my dad's family was having a family reunion so we didn't go. Sorry Mickey!

Here I am on a stop in South Carolina visiting some friends we knew in Japan.

Here are a couple of my brother and me getting along for a change.

Here I am in Albany, GA with just a "few" of my cousins that I met at the reunion this was just the first night's meet and greet and my daddy has a REALLY BIG family.

Here I am with my baby cousin Jarren at the fish fry.

Here's one of my mom at the fish fry, I'm trying to find one of my dad but he is usually the one snapping all the pictures.

Family Banquet Night

Here's one with my Mom & G-Mommie and my cousin Kim who looks a lot like I did when I was little, copycat!
Devin, Gran Gran, and me.

Found one with my Mom and my Daddy!

The last day of the reunion was also my birthday. I got together with some of my cousins at my auntie Judith's house. We had a really good time. We made ice cream sundaes and I had a cookie cake. It was SO good!

Even got a chance to get my hair wet when Gran-Gran let us big kids get in the kiddie pool and cool off from the GA heat.

Here I am chillin' at Gran-Grans before we leave to go back to Atlanta

Here I am back in Atlanta with my friend Natori. I like hanging out with her whenever I am visiting at my G-Mommie's house.

It's been a busy and fun vacation but it is now August and I am back home waiting for school to start and my hair has grown out so much. My mom is going to tighten up my braids so I can be ready for school. She is going to do a section at a time each night until she gets the hang of it.
Here is a before shot.

We are half way done now. Day 1

My mom took this picture to show me how it is fuzzier on the right than the left.

Day 2

All done for at least 6 weeks at least, can you tell that I am happy!

Day 3

This is one of my favorite hairstyles. It's my favorite because I can do it myself and I love to pull my hair back off of my face.
Until next time,
